CHANGES TO THE ENVIORNMENT
SELECT LOCATION ON ARADA
The pygmy three-toed sloth is well adapted to live in mangroves specifically found in tropic and subtropic areas, this would make a tropical forest on the Arada Biome the best place for the sloth to live. The Hither Lands looks like a really tropical place where the pygmy sloth could adapt easily to and use this land to their advantages. They could live on the coast near the Inner Sea, there could possibly be mangroves in these areas where the pygmy sloth thrives in, this would be a great habitat for the sloth to live in. The baseline for this location would be where the dark green tropical area stops and where the orange Savanna area begins. The pygmy sloth is only able to like in tropical and subtropical forests. The climate of this biome is wet and humid, as well as containing a pretty high temperature. The specific climate ranges between 93*F and 68*F, the humidity ranges anywhere between 77 and 88% on a daily basis, these areas also receive about 100 inches of rain a year. The physical settings of a tropical forest include many different varieties of trees, there are normally over 300 species of trees just in these areas. Tropical Forests are home to some of the most rare species of animals, plants and foods. The pygmy three-toed sloth is most likely going to thrive in this biome and their trees.
ENVIORNMENTAL CHANGES
Over the 10 million time period Arada has been present it has been through many different changes. Due to these changes biomes and habitats have also been affected, the main change over the years has been climate. 10 million years ago Arada was in an Ice Age, the global surface temperature was 13oC. Over the next few years ice sheets expand to cover larger areas of the Northern continents and the surface temperature dropped to 11oC. Tundra and Taiga biomes expanded as well as Deserts, while Tropical regions moved towards the equator. 9 millions years ago the ice sheets then started to retreat after an increase in global volcanic activity which lead to Global Warming. Between these years the land bridge between Valimor and Beleriand was blocked and then reopened. After another 1 million years global warming continued to increase, the ice sheets had melted completely and the global surface temperature started to return back to normal. The land bridge between Valimor and Beleriand had at this time been covered completely by an ocean, because of the rising height. 2 million years later The global surface temperature rose to 16oC the Darkland collided with Kalorme and there were major changes in ocean current patterns. 4 million years ago the global surface temperature continued to rise and was at 20oC during this time period. The sea temperature and levels also started to increase, the sea levels now reached 200 ft. Another 2 million years past and the global surface temperature stayed the same as well as the sea levels, however the sea surface temperature increases by 5oC. Present day Arada has the same global surface temperature area as 4 million years ago, volcanic activity returned to normal and Kalorme is now collided with Orcarnia. All of these changes in the climate over a span of 10 million years caused many biomes to expand as well as collide and retreat to certain parts of Arada, this can affect where animals often live and how species adapt to certain things. Like any big planet Arada went through some major changes over a 10 million time period and it affected many different environmental aspects.
IMPACT ON OTHER ORGANISMS
Due to all of the environmental changes planet Arada, biomes colliding, expanding and moving closer to different parts are the world this affected the organisms heavily. Since biomes moved so much due to the differences in climate many animals had to adapt to a new environment, this could have lead to a new species or even extension for certain groups. Interactions between new species could also be an effect of the environmental changes, many animals from different biomes would were predators before the change could now be prey to a bigger or faster animal. Many new interspecies could have been created as well as separated due to all of the movement between the biomes. A new rise in population in certain areas can also lead to competition among the species in new way, also due to the climate and different environmental factors the animals daily routines and habitats may be changed drastically. There were definitely animals that thrived in their new environments, however there were also animals that struggled to adapt the the new habitat they were exposed to. Whenever environmental changes occur among biomes there will always be positive and negative effects throughout the organisms involved.
